Army Navy

137 comments:
In our search to find a good foot/hand pump for the new Quickie Q7 wheelchair that was purchased recently, my parents and I chanced upon (again) a small restaurant we frequently take for granted whenever we visit SM North EDSA. So I invited them to take the plunge and have a taste (finally) of what our hungry brains were craving for at that moment.

Starving sailor. Thinly sliced rib eyed steak topped with jalapeno-cheese spread, green bell peppers and caramelized onions in an 8-inch sourdough bread. (P235)

Classic single quarter-pound.  Beef patty topped with fresh crispy letuce, tomato slice and onions, mayo and ketchup on a toasted sesame seed kaiser bun. (P155)

Above is the self service counter of  Army Navy located at the Sky Garden, SM North EDSA.

Verdict:
We were happy with our orders. My mom and I shared the 8-inch starving sailor which was exceedingly flavorful! I was glad we did this because it was surprisingly filling and satisfying. I personally loved the sourdough bread that was chewy or leathery and the rib eyed steak was so tender. Me on a diet? I burned the added calories in the gym the following day.

My dad on the other hand ate the classic single quarter-pound burger. He adores burger since he was a kid and all he muttered was, "This is good..." while savoring every bite.

Oh and there's more! My mom used her senior citizen discount card. To our surprise, the total bill was discounted a generous 20% off when most establishments only subtracted the food ordered by the cardholder. Let's patronize this place!

Disclaimer: I am not encouraging you to eat this kind of food in a regular basis due to its high calorie content. I blogged about it to introduce this find to those who may want to experience what I have enjoyed.

Things That Make Me Happy

57 comments:
There are a hundred and one reasons and perhaps many more reasons behind the happiness in a person's life. I may only enumerate those I have in mind though I'm sure you can add many more to my list and be surprised that life after all, is worthy of that smile.

I smile at the thought of:
- spending time with the people I love
- sipping a cup of coffee
- blessings from our Lord
- window shopping
- having a lazy day and procrastinating
- playing with my nephews and niece
- knowing that my clients are satisfied
- my clothes getting loose
- Ken's next visit
- being lulled by the sound of the rain

Seemingly, I would like to share some inspiring movies I have gotten from my subscription with Blessings Experiment. I have collated them for sentimental reasons and I find them valuable too. My heart yearns to be a better person after every view. I am moved by the potent words depicted in every plot. I am compelled to strive harder, to give my best in all my undertakings. It gives me the force and the energy needed to start anew as I am consoled to stand up, pick up the pieces and to courageously welcome change in my life.

I go through different phases in life like the seasons do. Along with it comes the outburst of emotions, impulsive or careless decisions and hurting words I may say recklessly. I am reminded to explicitly welcome such occurrences, to learn the lessons in every situation, to understand what it is trying to unfold and to be prudent in the process.

As I intently watch every short movie from time to time, a portion of me is transformed into a better being... and I smile.

MetaFit

30 comments:
I was extremely inspired to have a quick but meaningful chat with Toni who has a svelte and to-die-for body last Tuesday, May 2nd when I went to the gym for my exercise routine. I found out that she was a whooping 200 pounder before she achieved her current physique through exercise and healthy diet as well as incorporating these in her lifestyle to date.

My decision to enroll in a gym and seek the assistance of a certified trainer to get back my former figure occurred after realizing that Zoladex, the hormones injected to me for six consecutive months to mimic menopause before the removal of the uterine myoma was slowly making me fat (full story here).

MetaFit is the name of the program I am doing to help boost my metabolism and burn fat. I do several sets of 4-minute exercises by performing various movements to target the fats in the arms, shoulders, chest, back and tummy. The execution should be fast or in a pace you are comfortable with while having free weights ranging from two to five pounds. I also use some machines to further burn those fats accumulated in a short span of time. The goal is for my heart rate to beat fast. This way, more calories are burned. In the same manner, I stay only in the gym for 45 minutes to an hour maximum. The program I have is extensive but I consume a short time exercising because I do it without long rests in between.

In the past, no matter how long I do my gait exercise, no bead of sweat would trickle on my forehead. Things have changed now for the better. My shirt is soaked in perspiration after my gym session. I am relearning to eat the right food from the inspiring people I meet and by browsing the net. The unwanted 20 pounds is slowly dissipating and I will continue to do this feel-good activity I’ve learned to love and enjoy.

Can you share a decision you had lately which resulted
to something good?
