Naomi Ruth

1 comment:
Naomi Ruth or "Omi" turned two yesterday, July 25th. She is my youngest and only niece (I have two nephews older than her).

At two, she can comprehend in her own little way and is able to communicate well. She knows how to listen to commands and follows our every instructions. When you tell her to close the door, she does it willingly. When I ask her to keep my sandals, she knows where to store them. She has also learned to automatically say thank you, excuse me and I'm sorry when the situation calls for it.

At two, her common sense is unbelievable! She helps me get out of bed during my transfers without anybody coaching her to do it. This demeanor touches my heart bulls eye! Isn't that sweet? She holds my ankles and pulls it until I reach the edge of the bed ready to transfer to my wheelchair. And as I utter a big thank you, she smiles warmly as though to say, "you're welcome Naynay."

She is in love with Elmo of Sesame Street and Dora. Her tantrums dissipate at the sight of these two delightful characters. She giggles and laughs when the story is funny and changes the channel when it's boring.

With the right amount of tutelage and guidance, I'm sure she'll grow up to be a fine lady with endearing characters mentioned prominent as early as two.

Houses: Copycats Anyone?

No comments:
I live in an extended family and having a house of my own has been in my number one list of priorities. Oops, don't get me wrong. It's fun to live with many people in one roof. Picture this out: we eat together. When things go wrong someone is readily available to help me. When I wake up in the morning, my meal is prepared. I don't have to wake up as early as others do the following day to go to the market coz someone does it for me. I admit, I have a good life.

However, living in a house I have worked painstaking hard for will be an achievement! I can build it the way I like or put fixtures I please without anybody interfering. Also, with the stiff competition in real estate these days, the offers are hard to resist. Every Juan and Juana can enjoy a luxurious home within a budget. Below are photos of familiar facades of houses I have gotten from the net I found amusing. I am passing the amusement to you. Enjoy building your future house soon!

Varekai

No comments:
After a long wait, Verakai and I have finally met, LOL! The show was as expected, breathtaking and world-class. Every penny spent is worthy of the grand performance I have witnessed that showcased the extraordinary skills and talents of the performers, the colorful and captivating costumes worn, the awesome sound system and the huge tent that was built for the event.

Synopsis
Icarus is the main character of Varekai, who falls to the ground, breaking his legs as he does. He is suddenly in a strange, new world full of creatures he has never seen before. "Parachuted into the shadows of a magical forest, a kaleidoscopic world populated by fantastical creatures, this young man sets off on an adventure both absurd and extraordinary. On this day at the edge of time, in this place of all possibilities, begins an inspired incantation to life rediscovered." Assisted by the strange and quirky La Vigie, he works on regaining his strength and finding his way, his desire being to fly again. While on the ground, he meets The Betrothed, an underground, insect-like creature who he falls in love with. The two have barely met when she is kidnapped. Having already lost his love, Icarus must also find a way to see her again and conquer the obstacles in his path, continuing his quest through Varekai. (Source)

The Grand Chapiteau at Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park

The only photo I have as a souvenir because I was reprimanded by an usherette after taking it. I was very tempted to use my cell phone's camera but was also anxious that the staff might kick me out of the tent this time.

Food Over the Weekend

1 comment:
I love weekends especially when Ken is around! This time, we dined at three different places on separate occasions and were satisfied with the selections we made.

Food served at Orchard Road is authentic Singaporean dishes. You don't have to go all the way to Singapore and spend so much for the airfare to taste a varied of dishes they are offering or whenever the crave arises since it is located at SM Megamall. More so, the prices are affordable!

The interior of the restaurant is simple yet it has a homey feel. The lights are dim, the fixtures are mostly wood and I just love the stained, colorful glass divider they incorporated in the place. Plus service is fast and the place is very clean.

Pohpia or fresh spring roll

Char Kway Teow, stir fry flat noodles.

Chicken satay

Iced longan

French Baker is known for their freshly baked breads and pastries. My mom and I are one of the many loyal customers who would queue before closing time to avail of the 50% discount given at the end of the day. This could be a feat, more so if the person ahead of you decides to purchase what you also have in mind. Likewise, they offer interesting meals that will surely tickle your palette and taste buds.

Steak Sandwich. Tender beef sirloin marinated in fine herbs served on crusty roll and sided with honey balsalmic greens and potato chips.

Fricasse A L 'Ancienne in Casserole. A delicate and creamy dish of chicken and veggies cooked in traditional creamy white sauce and sided with seasonal veggies.

Cappuccino, garlic bread and brownies. The best way to end a satisfying meal. Encore!

Chicken-all-you-can at Max's Restaurant. We were lucky to get a table at once because the accommodating staff prioritized PWDs. And this is the consequence of a person with disability, fast service! =)

This reminds me to do my gait more rigorously to sweat out the calories consumed!
