Everyone I know wishes or aspires to have a comfortable life. The word comfortable connotes various meaning to every individual: from owning his own house and lot and sending his kids to a reputable school, to retiring at the age of 45 and living on interest. It could also be defined as having a dream business that will see through his needs and wants, or simply being able to eat three times a day with a roof above his head and having decent clothes to wear.
My youngest brother hopes for the same and he together with his wife thinks that an overseas employment will be the solution.
He works as a chef for Costa Cruise with a degree in culinary arts. Once on board, he busies himself in the kitchen- preparing, slicing, cutting, marinating, frying, sautéing, tossing for many months. No days off. He barely has time washing his own laundry he narrates and goes straight to bed after long grueling hours of working. He is ecstatic at the sound of his wife and children's voice when he makes long distance calls. The stories of how life is in the household complete his day. More so, cute and heart-warming antics of his daughter and achievements of his son from school described to him.
Love obviously conquers all difficulties and transforms one into a better, responsible, mature, steadfast, street-smart being. Thus, I remind myself that sacrifices play a huge role for dreams to materialize. It comes with hope which gives us the reason to continue and courage to move ahead when we are about to quit. It keeps you steadily going and brings light into the darkest of places. Love truly conquers all odds no matter how big the task is at hand!
